Western Bluebird (Sialia mexicana). Watercolor on 8″x8″ Arches, 140 lb. cold pressed watercolor paper block.

With the strong rainstorm last night, I had some technical difficulties and couldn’t upload anything. So here is yesterday’s Day 3. These little bluebirds are overwintering now in the Sacramento Valley. I see them along the levees near my house or along the American River Parkway. They are very cute and when I see them, I am always happy I moved to Northern California. Being raised in the paved suburbs of Orange County, California, I never saw any interesting birds.

Now I have to do something with that yellowish cast on my paintings. I’m doing these in the evening after work, so I’m taking photos of my paintings under artificial light. I’ll see what I can do.
