This piece is inspired by my work as a restoration ecologist along the Sacramento and American Rivers. Western tiger swallowtail butterflies quietly float above the vines of California wild grape while a Bullock's oriole tucked among the leaves snatches a ripened grape.
Mysterious and dark sap and perylene greens, deep cadmium purples and cobalt blues, lemony yellows, and earthy browns ground you in the calm and quiet of our riparian understory along our Northern California rivers. Pops of vermilion red and the shimmer of autumn mystery hint at the fall season that is just around the corner.
